The Seagate Central is a singe volume NAS (Network Attached Storage) device for home users. With Seagate Central network backup and entertainment is made easy. This NAS server is not designed to host your most important data, it is more meant for entertainment and media streaming.
The device really is one of the cheapest NAS server, because it has one hard drive, but it also means it`s quite smaller. Product dimensions: 5,7 x 8,5 x 1,7 inches and it weighs just 2,2 lbs. Seagate Central comes in four different capacities: 2TB, 3TB, 4TB and 5TB. Main advantage of Seagate Central is that it is very affordable, the price starts from $118.00 for 2TB of storage, and end`s up with $199.99 for much bigger 5TB capacity. It is quite obvious, that 5TB version would be a better choice, because our need for storage is growing very fast. Via GiGabit connection in our performance test Seagate Central showed writting speed up to 39.5 Mb/s and reading speed up to 74.4 Mb/s.

Design and Specification
The design is very simple and device comes only in black color. Device is inconspicuous and you won`t even notice it after a while. There is one LED on top of the Central, to show when device is turned on and ready to work. The Seagate Central has one USB 2.0 and one GiGabit Ethernet port on the back. It has one nonreplacable hard drive inside. With capacity up to 5TB it has plenty of storage space for it`s purpose. We do not recommend to save only one copy of important data on Central, because it`s purpose is to share storage space for entire home. Seagate central setup is very easy and don`t take much time. Performance
After testing i can say that Seagate Central did well for a single drive NAS server. It was the fastest one from single drive NAS devices, with reading speed up to 74MBps and writting speed up to 40MBps. More advanced NAS servers with multiple hard drives are way faster but also much more expensive than Seagate Central. At this performance seagate central can easily done the job. I also have to mention that server works very quietly.

Seagate Central Review – Conclusion
If you are looking for a NAS server that will share digital media to the entire house with no hassle, then Seagate Central is the best solution! But if you need a device to backup important data, then you shouldn`t buy seagate central and look for an exernal hard drive like: Seagate Backup Plus, WD My Passport Ultra, or Toshiba Canvio. Seagate Central is an excellent choice when used for entertainment purposes.

Segate Central is a total waste of time money and resources. My purchase of this monumental POS lead me to the decision that I would never buy seagate ever again. Two: if a device ever even hiccups while it has a warranty, get rid of it like toxic waste.
