With different forms of cross-platform gaming becoming more and more popular, companies have to keep up with their customer’s needs and improve their gaming experience. In this case, the older, bulkier wireless Xbox One controller adapter is going to be replaced by a more sleek and compact device. The new adapter is now available for pre-order for the same price as the old model – $24.99.
What makes it special?
The new wireless controller adapter for Windows 10 PCs, tablets, and laptops is mainly just a smaller version of the older, much bulkier adapter. The new Xbox One wireless adapter seems to be slightly smaller than the average USB drive. Its small size will allow it to fit between other USB devices much more easily and simply save a little bit of space even if it’s the only thing plugged into your USB ports.
The rest of the feature set seems to be the same as before – the new adapter supports up to 8 controllers and stereo sound, same as the older model. Although only the older adapter has been specified to support up to four chat headsets and two stereo headsets, one would presume that the new model would feature similar headset support.
When will it come out?
As we mentioned before, the new adapter is available for pre-order at the same $24.99 price tag that the old version of the adapter had. But it will only be coming out on August 8, 2017, so there’s not much time left to get your hands on one for the pre-order price.
Special edition wireless controllers also set to come out soon
Alongside the new wireless adapter design, Xbox One owners will also be able to get their hands on a couple new wireless controller designs in September. Microsoft recently announced the new Gray and Green, Volcano Shadow, and Patrol Tech wireless controller designs that are currently available for pre-order and are being shipped to major retailers throughout August:
